This is a follow-up post to the previous, as we feature the inspiring talent of the Black artists behind the Black Love Mural Festival in Civic Center Park. With the video project below, we aim to provide a lasting place for this important part of the monumental movement around the rights of our nation's Black communities to live - so that we never forget the important purpose it served in Denver - in the heart of our city. Today, Friday, August 7th, the festival is holding its closing ceremonies in the park - if you have or haven't seen the art, this is going to be wonderful way to celebrate this beautiful, powerful exhibition. Details on that are here.
This piece could not have happened without the collaboration of the visionary festival organizers and co-curators Rob Gray & Annie Phillips; the talented video team of John Gray and Sandra Suehr; and of course, the inspiring artists: Cassie Smith, Isaiah Martinez, Aaron Sutton, Charlie Billingsly, Hali Putman and Lakeisha Marie. Thank You.
During the interviews Amanda, our Communications & Marketing Manager, spoke with the artists about the inspiration, experiences and impact surrounding their murals. She also wanted to know: "If you could describe your piece in one word, what would it be...?"
